What you will see/hear at St. Luke's
We are a community of believers who worship the Lord in a variety of ways. Some will stand and raise their hands in worship, others are more reserved. You will hear kids. We have children's church during the sermon, where the children learn from the same passages of scripture they just heard in the service, but other than that, they worship with us. Because kids are fine and welcome (and we do have a nursery if you need/want it) - it is a place of joy. We have communion every week, and have some snacks after service. It is a friendly place. |
Some dress up - some don't. Some kneel - some stand. Come a few minutes before the service starts to get a bulletin and find your seat. If you are new, a church member will help you use the bulletin and song sheets so you can relax. Stand when people stand, sit when they sit.
Baptized believers are welcome to take communion. If you are not a baptized believer, you can come with the others to the altar and the priest will give you a blessing. Just cross your arms in front of your chest. If you are taking communion, hold your hands together in front of you and the priest will give you a wafer dipped in wine to consume. Then follow the others back to your seat. Covid or other illnesses - If you are ill or exposed, please mask and socially distance. Or watch online! We are taking communion by intinction. The priest dips the wafer in the cup and drops it into your hand. We are not using a shared cup at this time. |
